We offer genuine and transparent products that keep their promises and prove it, that are good value for money, since they are made from selected raw materials, that are skilfully developed according to the strictest regulations of Good Manufacturing and are stringently controlled throughout every phase of processing.

Cosmetic products that offer extensive guarantees in terms of safety, hypoallergenicity and function, which are also certified by strict clinical tests conducted for us by the University of Pavia – only on healthy volunteers, never on animals.

Plant-derived ingredients

Through both family and local tradition, we have always been enamoured with the infinite virtues of plants, which are the basis of the effectiveness and appeal of our phytocosmetics. The guiding philosophy of our business is based on pursuing a balance between science and tradition: at L’Erbolario the most advanced production systems and on-going cosmetic research progress side by side, in full respect of the herbalist tradition.

Cutting-edge research

A well-honed team of chemists, biologists and pharmacists is behind the formulation of every one of our phytocosmetic products. Our Research and Development Laboratory, with its advanced capacity for cosmetic formulation and its strict research methods, has been recognised by the Ministry of Universities and Research (MURST), and works constantly on identifying new applications for plant-derived active ingredients, in addition to creating cosmetics that offer increasing performance, safety and appeal. The brand new and innovative Extraction Laboratory, on the other hand, focuses on developing increasingly sophisticated and beneficial extraction techniques.

We have always refused to conduct tests on animals. And always will.

From the time we developed our very first cosmetics, we have never considered the idea of testing our final product on animals. For years, and with unwavering commitment, we adhere to the International Ban Animal Testing Standard.

Safety

Our phytocosmetics are produced in optimal hygiene conditions. Our colleagues in Quality Control take samples and conduct chemical-physical and microbiological tests on raw materials, packaging materials, semi-processed products and finished products. Before presenting a phytocosmetic product to our Customers, each one undergoes extensive clinical experimentation aimed at discovering any potential causes of irritation and allergogenesis. The research evaluation has always been carried out at the Department of Internal Medicine and Medical Therapy at the University of Pavia.

Effectiveness

Just like safety, the effectiveness of our cosmetics is also carefully and punctually checked. Clinical-instrumental tests, in vitro or self-assessment, are conducted on our beauty treatments, always under the control of the University of Pavia.

Appeal

The intrinsic appeal of the product, which constitutes the true challenge of natural and organic cosmetics, is one of the constant focuses of our research. We aim to offer cosmetics that are effective, while also featuring an appealing consistency. The delicate fragrances of our products and their sophisticated packaging, inspired by the botanical tables of ancient herbariums, are our signature trademark and we are particularly proud of them!
